Green Puddles Kill
I was topping off the anti-freeze on my car this past weekend when i noticed the print on the label, "Contains Bittering Agent". Of course, the bittering agent is added to discourage drinking of the anti-freeze by children, pets and wildlife, which is a really good thing, but it got me thinking, we should avoid spilling anti-freeze in any case.Green puddles are still a danger to humans and animals alike. Even if the spilled fluid is not directly lapped up from the ground, it will still wind up in our water system when it is finally washed away by rainfall. This nonpoint source pollution poses a danger to humans and wildlife when it contaminates our lakes, rivers and streams, as well as impacting the quality of our drinking water.
Waste and water pollution also cost money. Not only do we do well for ourselves when we prevent water pollution, but we also get the best value for our money when none of the product we use is spilled. Like I always say, "Fill It, Don't Spill It."
